„Bruchtal schickt immer erst Worte, bevor es Klingen schickt“, erwiderte Caerion.
„Und doch haben sie beides mitgebracht.“
Eine kleine Gruppe stand zwischen den silbernen Stämmen.
Ihre Mäntel waren grün und blassgolden. Ihre Stimmen leise. Bedacht.

„Die Frage“, sagte einer der Neuankömmlinge, „ist nicht, ob die Menschen weise handeln.“

„Das tun sie nicht.“
Ein leises Lächeln ging durch die Runde.
„Die Frage ist“, fuhr er fort, „ob wir sie ihrem Schicksal überlassen.“

Ein fernes Horn hallte durch den Wald – kein Krieg, noch nicht, aber nah genug, um ihn zu spüren.
„Wir haben das schon gesehen“, sagte Aelwen. „In jedem Zeitalter Mittelerdes derselbe Ablauf.“
„Die Menschen vergessen.“

„Und dann rufen sie nach Hilfe“, ergänzte Caerion.

„Dann“, sagte er leise, „ist dies eine, an die wir uns erinnern werden.“

Rüstungen glänzten schwach. Nicht hart, nicht brutal – sondern bewusst. Selbst im Krieg schön.
„So stellen sie es sich vor“, sagte Thalion weiter. „Mittelerde. Die großen Schlachten. Die letzten Bündnisse.“

„Und wir sind hier, um dem Gestalt zu geben.“
